While Sri Lanka is often portrayed through images of tropical beaches and surf culture. Lanka Unseen looks beyond these familiar scenes, turning attention to the island’s deeper cultural life.
Across towns and villages, traditions continue to live through movement, ritual, craft, and communal gatherings. Ceremonies, dances, and everyday practices reveal a rich cultural fabric shaped by generations and deeply connected to the land.
This project focuses on moments of celebration, devotion, and community that reveal another layer of Sri Lanka’s cultural life, beyond the images most commonly associated with the island.
Through intimate and close-range imagery, Lanka Unseen invites the viewer to step inside these moments and encounter a more personal and vibrant side of Sri Lanka.
